frogs ID

Hi all,

As an project for my study; applied biology, I am doing an Herpetofauna survey of an area located in the southern part of the western Rhodopes (Bulgaria). Now in my second month here, I've found quite some species already. Frogs are not yet my field of expertise. But also found some frog species, among them a type of frog which, from my point of view, could be one of three species, namely: Rana temporaria, Rana dalmatina or Rana graeca, all present in the western Rhodopes as a whole. Following this link:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/110302714 ... 158007471/

you will see the photos on my flickr account. The first 3 photos are taken on an altitude of 1155 m, in a high meadow area, the rest were taking on an altitude between 925 and 930 m, along a river in a valley.

Are they all the same species or more than one? And which species would it be in your opinion?

Hope you guys could help me with this, thanks in advance!

Greetings Tycho

Hi,

for me all are temporaria, although two have a dark throat.
Maybe the right one in 2nd row is dalmatina (is the ventral pic left the same specimen?)

Hi Mario, thanks for the reply, the ventral pic left in the third row is the same specimen as you were asking about. The left ventral pic in the second row is the same animal as the right one in the first row.

I think this may be graeca, no?

The rest looks like temporaria to me too.

For what it's worth, I agree with Jeroen and have some doubts about the frog on image 7376...
