vulgaris or helveticus?

Hello everyone,

Could anyone tell me from this photos if the newt is L.vulgaris or L.helveticus? It was found in north-west London. It had the belly of vulgaris(dark orange, big black spots) but I can't recognize the hollow between eyes and nostrils that vulgaris is supposed to have!I have almost no experience with newts in particular,so I'm a bit puzzled!Cheers!

Hi Ilian,

would say Lissotriton vulgaris too!
Because the grands between eye and nostril are markable deepened, in helveticus they should be flat and not so easy to see.
