Spanish lizards...? and 2 tadpoles...

Postby GertJan Verspui » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:41 am

Hello everybody,

Last week I've been to Sierra de Gredos, Sierra de Guadarrama and some places around it, I saw many lizards/tadpoles and some of them are not clear to me which species they are.

I hope that some of you with more expertise have the answers.

11: Pelobates cultripes
12: Hyla sp. (both arborea/molleri and meridionalis occur in that area)

Nice martinezricai!

The fact that the upper fin/crest runs so far onto the body and that there's only a single clear dark band on the muscular part of the tail, should eliminate meridionalis and confirm arborea/molleri.

Hi GertJan,

You must trust on Peter, Wouter and Jeroen, they know our herpetofauna very well!

I´m sorry you did´n´t find many snakes. Gredos is good for them but maybe is too early. Guadarrama is bad for vipers, but this week we have been very lucky! Last wednesay a male and this morning a huge and nice female ;)

And some days earlier we found another calamita with a Pelobates (poor spadefoot toad making noises because I think it couldn´t breath)!

What happen with this toads so hot?? They don´t respect nothing! It should have a Roze Buurt for them ;)

We Dutch have a solution for everything!

But very nice finds Gertjan, I really want to do a trip like that too someday, I love Iberolacerta's!
