Hi,
what do you think about the eye of this young Coronella? The other one was normal.

One-eyed young yellow-bellied toad from Croatian Medveja found two weeks ago in a small puddle within dried brook. About 100 m a.s.l.

Another eye injury - huge common toad from Sweden, last week.

Despite its obvious complete blindness - one eye missing, the other bloody and bulging - the toad seemed otherwise healthy.

Any clues as to the cause?

This toad is from the area where I count/monitor the amphibians and reptiles.
One eye was red. We got more information from people helping toads to cross the road that more toads had eye problems in the area. See photo.
