berus eyes

Some Belgian adder researchers found a yellow-eyed berus (instead of the more usual orange or red). Now I know this is (again) a matter of clinal variation, but who of you has got the yellowest berus eye on photograph? ;)

I know this one is only a tiddler but it has a nice golden eye, its siblings were a more normal colour.

Does this one count? I put it up on flickr because of the 'piercing' on its rostral scale - a new way to poke its tongue out without opening the mouth?..

hello together,

I stumbled over this ancient post and use the chance to show a rather golden eye . :ugeek:

foto was taken in situ, this summer in the Julian Alpes (around 1600 m a.s.l.);

best wishes,
Patrick
