There is a significant difference between "all Germans are vicious collectors" and "all vicious collectors are German". While the first is obvious and utter rubbish, I don´t have any arguments to sensibly argue against the latter...

I do stand with the fact that the bad name exists, though, regardless of whether it is founded or whether I support it.

As a (german) keeper of reptiles in captivity I can say that if I ever see a person who catch the animals and pick them up - this person is in real trouble with me...and after that with the police

Hopefully all this assholes will be judged by the law with hard punishments !

And as Peter says, beware your spots secret, especially in the web.

Unfortunatly, all these ass**** won't have the punishments they should...
I find that the laws are sometimes good, but so rarely enforced
If they were more strong and more enforced, more ass**** would think about it twice...
For sure these problems are importants but the alteration of the natural habitat is surely more destructive...
Our favorites will have some troubles for a long time :(

Very interesting posting!

See this report:

€ 3.000,-?! this eagle was extinct in A, consider the costs for reintroduction and protection measures, although most specimens came from the east...
same is true for bears in Austria - we had about 30 individuals in the Ötscher area - now they are gone (shot)...
