Somehow I'd missed that being found in Norway. Going by my old book I thought that in Scandinavia they were only known from Uppland until Tom's recent discovery in Finland. That means we're only missing Denmark now. I saw a frog that looked a lot like the Uppland lessonae on Funen a couple of years ago. It got away from me before I got my hands on it for a closer look, though, and as I was with my family who were already losing their patience with me I didn't look for others. Since then I've always shrugged it off as just a freaky looking esculentus (which, with overwhelming probability, it was) but I guess I really have to get back to that pond for a closer look, just in case...

it is only found (naturally) on 3 small ponds - I guess you read norwegian pretty well being danish :) Check out this link :

Thanks for the link

...though I don't need my Norwegian reading skills for an English text about Finnish frogs ;)

I googled Norwegian lessonae upon reading your previous post and learned about the three ponds. I'd still like to see the article I suppose you meant to link to, though :)

Yes, I know.

...but it's Tom Hoogesteger's article about discovering lessonae in Finland. With your remarks about my reading Norwegian, I was guessing that was not the article you meant to show me.

In Switzerland, I know for sure about the introduced population of Natrix tessellata in the Lake Geneva which is threatening the native Natrix maura specie. I also heard that the Hierophis viridiflavus found in Vaud and Valais are actually introduced and I know of an introduced population of Lacerta bilineata in Vaud.

Orthriophis taeniurus in Belgium!?!
