Species richness in Europe

Postby Guillaume Gomard » Mon Jul 18, 2016 10:33 pm

Hi guys,

I came across a nice map showing the (snakes and lizards) species richness in Europe. It gives a nice overview, therefore I wanted to share it here. It's a good way to choose the next destination for holidays!

Our book has one for amphibians and one for reptiles, based on the latest SEH data compilation. :P ;)

Right, I did not point this out but this map is for 2012 so yours should be even more up-to-date.

In all honesty, it also suffers a little bit from data deficiency. For instance, some squares up north may be empty, while one could safely assume that Zootoca does occur there.

I don´t understand this map - everywhere 1-3 species where I count 4-6.

That's because you're just that good, Daniel! ;)
But it seems you're right...

Lol, hard to believe indeed. I agree with you, if you look into details there are a lot of approximations, at least the general picture is cool to show to somebody who has no idea about such a distribution. At the end, it looks like a good advertisement for the new A&R guide, I should take a share!
