Plans for 2017

Postby Bobby Bok » Sun Feb 19, 2017 10:23 pm

With the season already starting in some places in Europe I just noticed we didn't have our traditional "herping trips for the upcoming year thread"!

So here we go; what plans do you guys have for the upcoming year?

--------------------------

I am eager to finish my Eurolist this year, to see my final four European species I have left to see. Here are my plans.

Early April
Malta again, to hopefully see Algerian Whip Snake this time.

Late April
Two weeks in Israel, traveling from north to south.

May
An excursion I organised for my Herpetological Study Group at work, going to Mallorca with a couple of students to hopefully see Mallorcan Midwife Toads.

July
Roadtripping in Greece, visiting the Pindos Mountains for Greek Meadow Viper and the island of Pori for the Pori Wall Lizard.

August
Guatemala for tropical antics and trying to find some enigmatic salamanders.

Looks like a busy year.
Guatemala sounds like a great adventure.

Wow, makes me feel lazy. What sort of celebration do you have when completing the list. Is there a tradition to follow?

Personally I can't see past the end of the month - flying out to Malaysia for six weeks.

Ray.

Nothing that impressive for me:

May
A short trip (4 days) to Vipera walser's region

September
Touring all around Spain through Portugal. Mainly to check mammals such as Cuvier's beaked whale, Brown bear, Wolves and Iberian lynx but I'll check spots for Vipera latastei as well

What a busy programme !
Guatemala for Nyctanolis pernix ? It will be a bit difficult no ?

For me it will be a very lazy year for herping apart for a two weeks trip in sardinia for april.
This summer will be spent between southern France and Corsica mostly for seing family (and waiting for a little new member of my "corsican clan")
Maybe a two weeks trip in Catalogna in october/november.

We will try Cuba, but for next year !

If it all works out... probably something in the nuddy with plenty of beer!

Very much, so we have to work hard! And if it doesn't work out, there are plenty of other cool salamanders, frogs, snakes and lizards around ;)

April
Family trip to Texas with my wife & kids visiting my sister and her family.
Not a herping trip but I guess we might get lucky and stumble upon a critter or two nonetheless...

May
Yet another quick Israel trip with three days of non stop herping.

July
Family vacation time.
Nothing planned yet but there's always the chance we'll end up somewhere with a couple of herps.

September
Hopefully an extra short herping trip. At most 4-5 days spanning a weekend and it has too be cheap. Could also be October.

I´m actually staying in Costa Rica, so that´s a quite nice way to start the year

May: two weeks herping in Israel

June: short botanical trip to the mountains around Naples, but maybe I could also find some herps

summer: maybe a short visit to walser area and a one-week trip in August to Romania maybe
