new vipersgarden database

Postby Mario Schweiger » Thu Jun 02, 2011 5:43 pm

Hello,

since weeks I´m working now on a new database, connecting species data with available literature, etc (like the old NEMYS database).
Today I´m able to present you a first page - how it looks like at the time.
http://vipersgarden.at/cascade/index.php

Now any suggestions are welcome!
You like something to add?

In the final version, all the literature will be downloadable from these pages (but only for registered users).

Awaiting your comments!

I think it's great! Much easier to find what you are looking for! Nothing to add, except that it would be nice if the photos are thumbnails and you can enlarge them, but I guess you will do this anyway!

Looks very good Mario, maybe to add clickable photos (to open larger photo)

Again, some work on the new database has been done ;)

Now it works (nearly) as expected by myself (I only have to find a way, the large pictures in a popup-window will close by clicking on them or outside of the window. Up to now, you have to click the close-button [X]).
Also some more layout will be done.

Now I´m looking for species contributors of pictures ;)
Pictures author name is typed in the pictures legend.
If you are interested, please send PM or mail for more information.

It't looking great! It will be an awsome database when you finish it! I don't think it's much of a problem that you should press 'X' to close the pictures..it's fine for me!

Are you going to be able to download the literature directly from the species page?

@Ilian,

yes, there will be TWO versions!

One for everyone, looking just how the database is now (with a few "updates"), and
one for "fieldherping.eu" and "VipersGarden Literatur Database" registered users (members), where members may download the PDF´s from the new database!

@ Kristijan Lazic
Thanks for the link!
I´ve downloaded it before 2 days, but couldn´t get it to work (because of all my php variables and arrays)
But now, after your PM, I´ve tried it again - and it works perfect!

Now the pictures are opening on the same page with "Lightbox" - looks very professional. :D

Thanks again

You are welcome Mario, I am glad that it's working :)

Now when tech issues are left behind, and after you finish the new database, working Lightbox feature is good baseline for huge future image gallery?
