Hi every buddy, just wanted to introduce myself :)

My name is Mikkel Frederiksen, I am 25 years old and I live in Nykøbing Sj. in Denmark. By the moment I am studying to be an engineering/electrician - but I have done a lot of different stuff so far, I have also worked as an zookeeper a couple of years. I normally use the most of my spare time on my hobbies, especially field herpetology :)

In general I am mostly interested in snakes - both captive held species and local wild species. I don’t know why? But snakes have always been my favourite types of animals. I’ve been a captive keeper of many types of exotic reptiles for many years now. I have had many different species of reptiles during my time in the hobby; I got my first snake when I was nine years old. But even though, my hart will always stay with the wild living species. Unfortunately the varieties in Denmark are not that many - as you properly already know? But we have alot of local reptile-spots that I visit often - even though we only got two species of snakes they can be found in large numbers during the season and they are certainly not boring at all - due to the small amount of species.

My biggest interest with my hobby is to become a "decent" amateur photographer over the years (for my own personal amusement). I have a simple camera, (Nikon D60) But, I consider to by a better one. I don’t know much about photo-techniques, but I always try to develop myself and my equipment so I can capture some great photos of Danish reptiles & amphibians. I wouldn’t call myself a good photographer – not at all, I just love to do it! I have a lot of respect for local reptiles and I always try to look after my local snake spots as good as possible = removing garbage asf, telling people not to walk their dogs all over and try to educate the ignorant masses. Plainly I just love the local spots in my area which I have followed for years - and I wouldn’t trade them for any place in the world by any means.

In general I would like to compare knowledge between the countries in Europe. I am very keen to find out about the differences among Vipera Berus & Natrix Natrix within Europe - specially the time of hibernation asf. And I would also love to get some personal acquaintances so I can visit other countries in Europe for photo-herping reptiles and amphibians.

-> I hope I can gain a lot of knowledge from this forum - which existence I just discovered today.

For the sake of good behaviour and personal knowledge- here is a picture of me, (with a Vipera Berus), just so you know how I look like - in the field ;) (I must admit i could not resist to pick it up, it was simply to beautiful - it's always great to find young speciments so you know the snakes are multiplying :)

And here are some random photos of my most recent herping-trips :)
