So you will know, who is running the "fieldherping.eu" board, here a short introduction of myself.
I was born in 1952 in Vienna.
Since my childhood (about 5 or 6 years old) I´ve been interested in amphibians and reptiles.
My parents liked my interest, but not, how I´m handling it. Because they had to remove Bombina bombina, Anguis, Lacerta agilis and Natrix natrix every few days out of my trousers-pockets or schoolbag.
For sure, I kept also herps like these in aquariums at home, and sometimes the left their new home.
My mother found them in the kitchen or everywhere else.
In the early sixties we went to Salzburg, where I finished school and start to study biology.
On May, 4th 1982, I was bitten by a large Macrovipera lebetina obtusa in SE Turkey. From this accident I lost my right arm.
But not my interest in amphibians and reptiles.
My special interest are the vipers of Europe and the Mediterranean countries.
Since the seventies I´m keeping Vipera ammodytes of different locations and breed them regulary.
But I´m very interested in all other herps of the regions, covered by this board.
Thats me. In Pakostane (Biograd), Croatia. May 2006
