Big Spider ID

Postby Avery Leatherwood » Thu Oct 01, 2020 11:28 am

hey all!
So I have been going out herping quite often this past month, and I have never seen these spiders before, but now I am finding them everywhere. They make huge webs that are the stereotypical spider web (orb weaver type) but the spider itself spends its time of in a cocoon sort of thing of to the side in a plant. I dont have a photo (yet) but the spider is almost all abdomen, a light tan color, and has a notable white cross on the center of the back of the abdomen. The whole spider is about the size of a 2 euro coin when it is without its legs extended, and has very notable hairs sticking out of its legs.

I cant seem to find anything about it online, any ideas?
Thanks!
