Hi
I noticed this part of the forum has few posts so I thought I would add a couple of small mammal photos from the UK. Apologies for the ‘in hand photos.’ All these creatures were trapped using the appropriate licences using humane methods.
The first animals are from a small nature reserve near my home in North Yorkshire.
Habitat shot. Incidentally, the site holds good numbers of Triturus cristatus.
Wood Mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus). This is an extremely common mammal in the UK.
Bank Vole (Clethrionomys glareolus) is also numerous in woodland habitats.
Water Shrew (Neomys fodiens) is widespread but rarely seen in the wild.
The next photos were taken in Hertfordshire near to London.
The rare Harvest Mouse (Micromys minutus) was our target and we captured good numbers.
We also enjoyed several Common Shrews (Sorex araneus).
Hope you all enjoyed
Kind regards
Mike
