An update! I wrote the report about Gunung Mulu NP (Sarawak, Borneo).
I got most names to the species, but some geckos have no name yet.

Green Crested Lizard (Bronchocela cristatella)


Bornean Keeled Green Pit Viper (Tropidolaemus subannulatus)

Bako National Park is next

Grrrrreat! My favourites are for sure that cute Metaphrynella and the stunningly coloured Tropidolaemus. Looking forward of seeing part III.

Nice pics of cool species - I like !

Many years ago I was in Gunung Mulu, at the Royal Mulu Resort: wonderful resort and impressive pristine jungle all around.

But it was rainy season, and I had too little experience with tropical snakes: the best thing would have been to walk during night rain along the road between resort, airport and park. Which unfortunately I didn't!
But in the following morning(s) I could see two huge Bungarus dead on the road: B.fasciatus (very big specimen, rather round and not triangular in section) and B.flaviceps. Considering the low traffic impact during night on that road, I think snake presence during those night rainy storms should have been massive.

On the intersection with park road, was spotted more than once a huge king cobra by the manager of the resort and his wife: but I could not see anything.

Other snakes I found were probably one or two Dendrelaphis sp. DOR (? I should search the pictures) and two specimens of O.taeniurus grabowski inside the deer cave.

I did my best to find the slides and a picture of the big fasciatus (I've nearer pictures, but they are very disturbing because of the blood/interiors of the snake).

P.S. The king cobra was spotted by the resort manager always in the very early mornings hours, basking among low grass at the edge of the main road, at the exact place where the road to the park begins: it was so big, that the first time the manager thought it was a python. It was basking "rolled up", then it always raised the head and disappeared in the vegetation.

A word about the title of the 3d: the right name is Pulau (which means "island") Tioman, and not Palau Tioman.

A picture of "our" huge dendrophila, found in the same place in Tioman for two consecutive years.

After this trip I have the feeling I missed so many things and that I have to go back..

LOL.. I know the meaning, but it is funny that I wrote and read Palau for months.. Nobody corrected me before and after you told me I see it too. I am not dyslectic for the record. I corrected it, thanks!
