Holiday in Thailand.

I happened to have time and money at the same time, so I booked some very reasonably priced flights to Thailand. The purpose of the two week trip was to enjoy the warmth, eat and relax, not really to herp. I Flew to Phuket and travelled to Khao Sok national park from there. After a few days in Khao Sok, I went south to Krabi province and again over to Phuket island to fly back home. Here are some photos from the trip. I'll add a video as well as soon as I get it sorted.

I stayed over at a floating hut on the lake in the np. The views on the way there were quite stunning.

We went caving in Nam Ta Lu cave, which was very nice, although claustrophobia-inducing. The cave was very wet and we spent about half the distance (total around 800m) of the cave wading and swimming.

It didn't rain that evening, but we had a quick look for herps. The guide didn't really understand English and I didn't manage to convince him not to catch the herps as I wanted to photograph them in situ.

After a night of beer and Hong Thong (cheap Thai booze) with our guides, we got up early to see primates. We managed to see gibbons, langurs and a civet.

I went walking around in the park during two days. I walked up and down streams to stay close to water and not to get lost. It was very dry, but I still managed to find some species.

There were other wildlife besides herps:

Nephila maculata

Long-tail macaque.

Found this on my shoulder.

If only.....

From Khao Sok, I went off to Krabi province for the beaches and food. I didn't do any herping, but the region seemed to have very nice potential for a future herping trip.

Interesting stuff. Loved the two Calotes. I've never managed to turn up C.emma. Were there many about where you were?

Loved the sky in your final shot (sigh).

I've only found C. emma in Khao Sok, where they can be found along the path into the park. They seem fairly common, as in you can see several per day.

I sure do. We're currently doing field work on the island of Åland and it's been pretty much like that every night for about a week. Consuming stuff.
