Oman Part 1 Amphibians

For your reports/images, made outside Europe and the "Mediterranean" countries. Not to be too narrow minded and limited to our European/Mediterranean herps.

Oman Part 1 Amphibians

Postby Jürgen Gebhart » Sun May 05, 2013 5:41 pm

Why shouldn`t I start with Amphibians from the Desert country Trip, because the weather was a bad influence during our Trip.
Five Days rain in the north before we arrived and five during our Trip.

I arrived at Friday the 26th of April, Gabri Martinez and two of his Spanish Friends arrived at Saturday.
I used the Night to drive around and was looking for some Herps.
The only thing I found was Bufo dhufarensis.

We drove down south for five Days and after we came back to the north rain was still there.

So there was a high activity of Bufo`s

Two Males, two different Species, one idea
On Top Bufo dhufarensis, calling Bufo arabicus

The visual difference between both Species is that dhufarensis has a bigger eardrum.
But also the calling is very different, I made two short video`s, one with Bufo arabicus (like a sheep) and in the background the dhufarensis (like a Hyla)

The second without Toads, just for the sound.

Will be continued.
