Oman trip

For your reports/images, made outside Europe and the "Mediterranean" countries. Not to be too narrow minded and limited to our European/Mediterranean herps.

Wonderful series - I am green with envy.

Particular favourites: Eryx & Platyceps (is that thomasi?) but I could go on... Scincus, Uromastyx, Atractaspis, Telescopus, Chamaeleo,...

Too much goodness!

One question though:

I just wonder, why there are no pictures of Acanthodactylus?

Hello,

there is a link with some shots of Acanthodactylus - http://www.flickr.com/photos/58603885@N ... 397399156/

I appreciate your help with ID. It is not easy to determine them without animal in the hands.

Thanks for all opinions.

Best, Tomas

Ahoj Tomas!

I agree Nr 1 is felicis
and Nr 2 is masirae
Nr 3 is difficult: it has the typical bifurcating dorsal stripe (which opheodurus often has see Arnold p. 301), which felicis does not have. But its tail not red (opheodurus) but bluish (boskianus or felicis) - so for me this should be a young boskianus
Nr 4 opheodurus with its typical red tail

Take by jsme brzo jeli radi do Omanu.

No realy good idea on Oman Acanthos.
But juvenile boskianus - at least in Morocco - have red tails.
Two pics of the same specimen: Dades valley between Ouarzazate and Boumalne du Dades
