gray khosatzkii = halfgrown

Coloration in Echis khosatzkii (as well as in other species, in Oman for example omanensis) depends on colour of soil, where the specimen lives. In Wadi Ayun you can see very pale specimens (https://www.flickr.com/photos/58603885@ ... 6217525623 or https://www.flickr.com/photos/58603885@ ... 6217525623) and on other side in "Lower Wadi Darbat" (Khor Rori) you can see quite dark specimens (https://www.flickr.com/photos/58603885@ ... 6217525623). These two localities have different colour of soil and stones...

Here you can see, how the coloration of vipers (in Echis omanensis) depend on coloration of soil from different parts of its distribution...
