Herping UAE

UAE Trip

After being three times in the past two years in Oman, I want to see something different, so I decided to go to UAE!
I started with the Trip-plan immediately after the March Oman Trip.
After all those Trips in the past years with different people I decided to make this Trip alone.
The Advantages to do Trips with other people are easy,
Four eyes see more than two; six eyes see more than four …
You can share the money for the car, gasoline, hotel, food …
Somebody can help you out when you are in trouble, when your torch is broken or Batteries are empty...

On the other Hand
No senseless Discussions about nothing
No asking the Crew, “Can I smoke in the Car”?
No snoring room mate
No “I`m hungry”, ok let`s go something to eat, “But I don`t like this kind of food”
Fuck – eat or die!!!
I can stay in a spot as long as I want, no lazy Guys hanging around the car and screaming,
whistling or honking. I can leave a place whenever I want.
That`s were my thought`s, but on August the 30th I got an e-mail

"Jürgen,

What are your plans for the UAE, you probably understand that I feel a bit nervous when I think about that"

After that mail my Dream of a solo Trip was gone! All my thoughts were just Dust in the Wind!

One more hardcore Trip with my Friend GertJan!
One more 24/7???
No, this time we made it a little bit smarter,
with a little herping in the morning, a nap in the afternoon and some strong action at night.

As usual I had this time also a wish list, I think I don`t have to tell again and again that I`m a Viper maniac so here are my serious Top 5 of the Trip
Teratoscincus keyserlingii
Hemidactylus persicus
Asaccus caudivolvulus
Pseudoceramodactylus khobarensis
Stenodactylus slevini

All Gecko species!

We found all beside the last one, not that important.

Without the help of GJ I would come home as a Loser, but he made the Trip very spcial.
Not only the night when he found three Cerastes gasperetti, three Eryx jayakari and two Diplometodon zarudnyi was fantastic, also when he crowned himself to the King of all UAE herping Trips because he found a Pseuodcerastes persicus, one of the rarest snake in the estern arabian penisula.

I was a very successful Trip, very good for my Arabian Tick-List with a lot of new experience and also very good for my body condition.

Hahaha, very nice, If I remember correctly, you decided to make it a solo trip after I said that I could not come just after oman...

And all the feathers in my arse are getting to much for me, I want the old grumpy bastard back.

I crowned this trip as the king of trips, you crowned me, you mofo

But serious, we had a shit start, but all in all this trip turned out to one of the best adventures this far and yes, my best tick ever made it extra special, but finding the Pseudoceramodactylus khobarensis without help was also a good boost for the last night.

If you will do some training on finding me very cool stuff, then I would like to do a trip again.

Cool photos amigo, I will ad just one of mine, don't have a lot of time now to sort out the gold, schotland is waiting for me.....

That Pseudocerastes is really contrasted and rare. Very nice individual. GertJan is a master finding vipers around the world and also a good person to make happy the always grumpy bastard

Congratulations guys! I would have never expected that you would have found the false horned viper in UAE.

Amazing!!
