Winter in Costa Rica

Postby Pablo Deschepper » Wed Feb 17, 2016 9:14 pm

Hi all,

This winter I could scratch one big herping trip off my bucket list. I went herping in Costa Rica from the end of december until the end of januari. We rented a big ass 4WD and drove to all sides of the country, crossed rivers, climbed mountains (well..the smaller ones) and have been bitten by all kinds of insects. I'm not much of a storyteller, so here are some of the pictures I took during the trip:

O yeah.. and we have seen a little juvenile bushmaster

O sorry, and a big ass full grown adult too.. Enjoy

Very cool findings, especially the bushmasters. Being myself in CR, I am curious to know the approximate locations (region or anything you wanna share here) of the Lachesis and of the B.asper. Was it often raining in dec. / jan.?

Cheers

We only had some rain when we were in Arenal, we didn't have any rain in the lowlands, well may be some in Tortuguero, but this is considered to be Costa Rica's most rainy corner anyway. So the ground was quite dry. I'll send you a PM with more info.

You saw awesome stuff! Would've loved to read some stories behind some animals but I'll settle for the sweet pics.

Haha, no black headed :( .. We looked for them though! We heard a couple of stories of locals seeing and of course..killing..them and went looking for them at these locations, but no luck for us. That would have been totally off limits to see a black headed I guess :)
