Hi all,

I went to a last-chance-before-the-baby-arrives vacation (others may use the horrible word babymoon) with my girlfriend to Oman during the last week of February and the first week of March. It was not a herping trip and we had to take it easy for obvious reasons, but I still managed to see some nice animals.
Apart from quite some green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and 2 snakes (both wadi racers (Coluber rhodorachis), I saw at least 10 gecko species and some nice skinks including the sandfish Scincus mitranus, which was really great, and Omanosaura jayakari, which was surprisingly huge.

Oman is really a great country, especially if you like geckos (but also when you don't see any herps its still amazing). There must me many cool snakes out there too so I guess I'll have to get back some time to do some proper herping.

Some photos:

Jürgen, thanks for the improvements and have a nice trip. Has anyone experience with finding snakes in Oman? Is it more difficult than in Europe?

Great find Rob, I am loving that Omanosaura and it must be a great herping destination in general. Still on my to-do list...
