Oman 5.0

For your reports/images, made outside Europe and the "Mediterranean" countries. Not to be too narrow minded and limited to our European/Mediterranean herps.

Yes, UAE is better for Pseudocerastes if you keep with you GertJan  or you really think that the mountains of UAE are better for Pseudocerastes than the highest places of Jebel Akhdar in Oman?

Not only Hemidactylus, one of the papers Salvi puplished this year is about two new Asaccus species from the UAE-mountains.

With my little experience and the Information`s I have (maybe not everybody have them) I would rather search in the UAE- than in the Oman Mountains for Pseudocerastes.

Great Jurgen. Probably then, mountains of UAE close to Musandam peninsula are good. Next time that I have a connection flight to Abu Dhabi I will try to stay 2 or 3 days and visit that places ;)

Andrew Gardner told me he thinks Pseudocerastes is reasonably common above 900m or so. Considering there's much more habitat in Oman, lots of which has never been visited by herpers, I would suspect them to be just as easy there. Sorry for the spam Jürgen, here's the one I found this summer on the Sayq Plateau.

It's cool to read a post from you Jürgen, I am always sure to find some Echis pics in it! Do you still have unseen targeted species on your Oman list?

There is no Oman Trip without Echis, if I don`t find an Echis during an Oman Trip I will no body tell that I was there!
On Top of the List is, of course, the Cobra!

Nice to see that you were back in Oman. It seems to me that the chameleons could be easier to find during the green season or when the trees are still a little green.

I am still frustrated that we were not prepared for it back in 2014.
