Obviously, you don't know Peter - luck has nothing to do with it ;) & wasn't his first Ophiophagus.

Snakehunting in Malaysia is 80% luck; 15% more luck 4% speed and just 1% skill. Here are some more pics from my trip. Only a few. I took 2600 pics and I will put some on picassa soon.

Maybe the names are old but I believe in Malaysia lives also a Speybroeck guy who comes with some new names. And sorry, but I don't do frogs.

There I was, trying to convince the world of your talent....
If I see all the species you found, I can only conclude that this is a place where even I can find snakes

If you think this time it was easy, I should say, don't go to malaysia in August or September. I made a list of my previous trip in December 2010.
We stayed 6 nights in the north (Kuala Nerang), now we only stayed only 3 nights because the absence of snakes or luck.
See the difference. In 2011 we only found 1 Malayan pitviper here, in 2010 we found 15.
species DOR Alive pc DOR Alive
2010(6 nights) 17 8 9 54 29 25
2011(3 nights) 9 8 1 14 13 1

Good pics - as usual!
Your "no comment" frog looks like "Rana" erythraea. I´m not familar with all the last years genus changes in tropical frogs at the time.

Agreed. It's classified as Hylarana erythraea nowadays.

There is obviously some confusion with the photos and captions, but the last photo is a Polypedates leucomystax. Especially if found in W. Malaysia.

The brown frog before the Lycodon has a Fejervarya sp. -look to it.

Was the frog with the caption "frog" found in the highlands of W. Malaysia?

The P. hageni a wonderful find!

And please, If anyone posts photos from Malaysia, please specify at least if your finds are from W. Malaysia or from the Bornean side.
I think I'll have to post some of my photos too. Actually, this holiday bit may be a good way to keep the forum going all winter.

Cheers.

Martti

Go for it!

However, please don't kill this season too soon ;) . I, for one, am still looking forward to the peak in the Salamandra year, actually.

But, go for it! :D
