Another winter trip from the Lycian coast

Postby Bobby Bok » Mon Mar 05, 2012 10:37 am

Besides Laura I've also just came back from a trip to this faunistic rich region in Turkey. We had some bad luck with the weather, first warm and dry, then cold and enormous amounts of rain (good for salamanders though!) and then the last days very cold winds. Luckily enough we found all Lycian salamander species and some nice extras :)

Here's my report (in Dutch)-> http://www.herpet.mysites.nl/mypages/herpet/523972.html

Great trip Bobby! I like the landscapes! Don't know what to like more, the black natrix or those Hyla's!

Haha, thanks all! Of course the cat picture is for you Jürgen, I know how fond you are of those free-roaming snake killers!

I'm way to lazy to write a report in English so I think it's best to just learn Dutch (or use Google translater ;) ).

Hi,

very nice report and pictures!
Just out of curiosity: Mertensielle luschani was protected, now the genus is renamed (which I know brings no change) and additionally the species have been split up. Does it mean now, that all Lyciasalamandra-species besides the one from Karpathos (-> EU) are not protected anymore in the EU (not talking about turkey)? Does anyone know?

Best Greetings
Kamil
