Great (half) trip report, too bad I couldn't join for the Mt. Hermon part, I love that place.

Jeroen, I would agree looking at the length of the black stripe on the abdomen.. what do you think of Jurgens other dragonflys? Trithemis? brachythemis?

I'm not sure the Crocothemis is determinable? Like you Jeroen, I have no experience of servilia, but I can't see anything wrong with it as erythraea.

From the single photo, the Orthetrum bothers me slightly, though I can't offer an alternative identification.

? No other species has such dark metal blue and (especially) narrow abdomen than trinacria.

Yes, I agree. My worry was that there was a similar, middle-eastern species not covered in the Dijkstra/Lewington book.

There isn't, or at least not known for Israel or any Mediterranean country (Atlas of Mediterranean Odonata).

A lovely trip report that shapes a really funny character profile of Jürgen. *g* I've never thought much of Israel herpwise, but it surely seems to have some pretty cool herp species.
