Dear all,

I am taking my girlfriend to Cyprus in May for her birthday... whilst I am honour bound to do coupley touristic shizzle for the week.. she has said I can get in a days herping :D

I have been lucky enough to have been to Cyprus a few times before, so I have a smallish wish list for the day.. in no particular order:

Vipera lebetina

Coluber cypriensis

Coluber numifer

Natrix natrix cypriaca

Eirenis modestus?

If anyone has a particular site /area they think would be productive for me to visit, given that I have limited time I would be very greatful for a PM.

If anyone has a contact/ guide I could hire for the day to expedite things, I am very happy to pay for efficiency and expertise :D

Kind regards

Paul

If you do not find much in the way of wild herps then Paphos Zoo may be of interest to you - http://www.pafoszoo.com/animals/reptiles/. The websote advertises a great collection of reptiles including Dendroaspis, Naja, Bitis, Aspidelaps and some local snake species such as Macrovipera, Hemorrhois and Hierophis!

Might not count as your day's herping if your girlfriend enjoys going to the zoo as well ;)

Paul,

for Eirenis levantinus look at PDF-1702 in the DB,
good papers on Natrix natrix are PDF-1694 and PDF-1983
Hope you will get some locations for Macrovipera lebetina, but as far as I know, they are very common around Paphos.

Mario

I think trip planning is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment, the weather is foul!!
