Thank you very much for this - I do highly appreciate that!
I always thought, that B. balearicus is an introduced viridis...

Yes I noticed that Glandt still had it in his list.

Well, yes, Thomas, the Balearic populations were introduced. I believe at least the Corsican ones too, if I remember well. However, due to the lack of a senior synonym (in spite of temporary advocation of the name Bufo lineatus by some Italian authors), this name also would have to be used for the populations of the Italian mainland, Tyrrhenian islands, NE Sicily, etc.

Biside the name

What is the Micrelaps in the "full-Body" Pic, a black snake with yellow bands or a yellow snake with black Bands?

Hmm this was a good question - and now also back to Mario's objection: maybe they are really Micrelaps tchenrovi or even a third species - why? If you compare the picture in Werner et al. 2006 on page 34 the pattern doesn't fit with both species. Our snakes had a uniform black venter, the bars didn*t cross - so no muelleri.
In tchernovi the bars don't cross the venter, but they have a bright venter. Ours had a black venter - see picture - strange... but rather tchernovi than muelleri
sorry for "no hands"...

P.s. After reading the whole paper: Micrelpas tchernovi - Mario: you were right
