Whilst Bobby and Laura were having fun in Turkey I was having fun in Cyprus. Because of the time of year I decided to both herp and bird which considering the weather at times was poor meant I was never short of something to see. We have them here in Salzburg town (castle mountain) also, but never have seen them so close

Nice, most I like the various colored Hylas we found them from near orange to blue in all variants

Nice report Carl. That Cyprus warbler is nice. Shame you had no luck with Macrovipera but we have both been there I was in Cyprus in July and saw plenty of Acanthodactylus in Tombs of the Kings, as well as two Dolichophis - both around 1m, maybe a bit more, and both without much black on them. Am I right in thinking that males develop the black colours whilst younger than females?

Went around Tomb of the Kings twice, but no acanthodactylus but 6 other lizard species, I guess they like it hot as only saw 3 juveniles down the road near the lighthouse. I'm no expert on jugularis but I think mine was a female going on the obvious thinning of the tail and it was about 120cm ish, if I had to put money on it I would put it on males being blacker/get blacker younger. Yeah was chuffed to get a nice pic of the Cyprus Warbler it sat up nice for about 10 seconds.

Great pictures Carl! I love the jugularis and how different it looks from the Turkish animals. Also the spur-winged lapwing and the wallcreeper are really great birds!
