Imho, a poorly substantiated taxon. Small sample size and about as divergent as the spotless population on Karpathos is in comparison with the others.

for sure, but maybe somebody wants to have pics of all ssp.
I'm not sure, if all described sp. are good species - maybe ssp. or even nothing

Interesting to see the range extention (curious to see where it ends) but otherwise not worth the trip for me I guess... This kind of variation is also visible within other species such as L. fazilae and L. antalyana and I highly doubt the validity of this taxon.

Agreed, Bobby.

Is this range extension really that spectacular? If Wouter B. and I can find (albeit smaller) range extensions for Speleomantes in Italy in a single weekend, I would imagine in Turkey there's quite some ground left to be covered?

Of course, you're right.

Not spectacular but interesting all the same. I guess range extensions will continue to be found for Lyciasalamandra. For me it is always a limited time issue; I would love to spend time outside the known range seeing how far east/west/north they occur. On the other hand, in only a week time I prefer to see just as many (new) species as possible. But who knows... On future trips...
