Advice for Israel in Februar

Hey Guys,
it turned out, that I will make a two week Field trip to Israel in February. Beside our main goal -S. infraimmaculata- I am interested to see as many other species as possible.
Since I have no experience in Near-East-Herping I would like to have some advices from the more Israel experienced people in the Board :D
My main questions are:

-What is possible to find during February?
-What is the best strategy, especialy for snakes? Is night herping on roads recommendable or should I avoid this?

By the way: Our trip is considered to be a road trip, meaning we are (possibly) passing from Tel Aviv to Tel Dan and then back south to Jerusalem if this is important for any advice.

Your help would be really appreciated!
Thank you in advance 8-)

Bests,
Tim

Hello Tim,

I will let the masters answer you but a friend of mine was there in February (2012 if i remember well), and he told me it was too cold for snakes. He even had some snow (!)... But it was perhaps a special year.
I wish you good luck in this beautiful country!

Fred

Hi Tim, for snakes it is too cold to do any road cruising at night, but some snakes can still be found by flipping stuff. My last trip to Israel was in december 2015 and I did find some snakes, but I don't think that they are active in winter time.
Good luck!
