So many nice things on this forum right now that I did not have the time to look at this. Congrats for your trip, the pictures are amazing (Echis, Pseudocerastes, and so on) and it seems that there was really a fielherping synergy! Could you tell us a bit more about the Echis? (what kind of behaviour? Some story to tell from the local people about this snake?...).I guess you know this link but just in case (not in english... :( )

Great work!

Kristian it was luck, but not only. We work really hard for the success.
We flipped tones of Rocks, have our hands in tons of trash and garbage, we eat only junk food on the gas station. We needed our Hotel rooms just for a short sleep and a shower.
I wish you all the best for your trip, I keep my fingers cross!!!

Yes, I know this.
The people told me, that in areas where Echis coloratus occur, they are the most common snakes there. But we don`t found that much, because of the cold weather.
The one we found in the northeast is an Echis coloratus terraescantae.
The four we found in the middle are integrates Echis coloratus ssp.
The one we found in the south is an Echis coloratus coloratus, only Gabri have pics from that snake, but this is another story (fu..ing Birdwatchers!)

I pictured many snakes in the wild and captive, but I never had models like Echis coloratus.
They never try to bite during the shooting, they were all-times friendly and they lay like ever you want and don`t try to escape.
But you have to be careful, don`t lose the respect, otherwise you are dead!

I know (well, I figured) hence the "Great work!". I certainly did not mean to belittle your effort. Luck, generally, plays only a minor role and when finds day after day are as impressive as this, well, it's probably not just luck ;)

Thanks for your reply. I was just wondering if terraescantae was still a valid subspecies. I understood from the 2009 paper by E.Pook that it was no more the case.
