don`t forget such stories like the "discovery" of I. horvathi in Germany

You mean you have doubt, Thomas? Then how do you explain those colour images? I actually got this news through very reliable sources. Of course, anything is possible...

Well, I've just seen the pictures now and this frog really looks reliable and very different from all Discoglossus, I've ever seen (the black venter!).
I just had in mind the sensational announcements of the rediscovery of the Cape Verde Giant Skink or the La Palma Giant Lizard etc.
Just because Israel is a very well researched country in terms of herpetology, this rediscovery after such a long time seems very unusual - especially for an amphibian, because of their dependance on water and therefore their predictable occurrence.
But sometimes it happens - e.g. Psammodromus microdactylus after 50 years...
Let's hope the best!
