Namely relations between humans and amphibians & reptiles- interesting theme to me. Everyone is invited to sharing interesting facts. Well, I'm starting!

In marketplaces of some countries it is still quite common to see frogs floating in milk. Thanks to them, milk doesn't spoil so fast.

I the USA exists "The Church of the Toad of Light". Surely it comes for Bufo alvarius that is the only one toad that produces 5-MeO-DMT in larger quantities. As to psychoactive drugs other toads produce only bufotenin. The americans don't seem to care about dangerous chemicals in toad's venom, probably they evaporates as people smoke dried venom, not fresh. http://www.erowid.org/archive/sonoran_d ... church.htm Toad poetry :P -

In ancient Egypt frogs were identified with fertility and life because as we know they produce a lot of spawn and are associated with outflow of Nile that delivers fecund conditions for crops. Therefore some of them were kept in temples. Goddess of fertility was called Heqet and she was portrayed as a woman with frog head or a phallus with a frog on it to emphasize her association with fertility. Now you know why one of biblical plagues was a rain of frogs- Yahweh wanted somewhat to "mock" egyptian gods.

Aztec deity of fertility was depicted as many-breasted frog with golden face. Cool :P Source- http://www.khandro.net/animal_frogs.htm

Today I found out that polish city Szczecin has spent some money to transfer smooth snakes from an urban area. People are capturing them by flipping artificial cover objects. Stones and branches are piled in snake's new habitat. What is interesting, it costed about 8604 € what makes ( if they really find fifteen snakes more) 344 € per one snake omitting dumps. http://www.gs24.pl/apps/pbcs.dll/articl ... F120819937

Also on wikipedia I read that Zoroaster issued an edict in 600 BC that all toads should be killed as they are thought to be connected with devil.

I found in addition this cool picture below that shows a witch feeding her toad familiars.

According to Sahih Bukhari (810–870), Muhammad said that salamanders are "mischief-doers" and "should be killed".[8]
