Cerastes vipera

Postby Jan Van Der Voort » Fri Aug 03, 2018 10:28 am

Hi,

I’m preparing a trip to Morocco, and I’m planning to stay a couple of days in Merzouga. My prime target there is Cerastes vipera. Has anybody found them there ? What would be the best way to go about it ?
• Morning or evening ?
• Road cruising or by foot ? Probably by foot I imagine ?
• Good places to start looking ?

Depends on the date, you will be there!
For example: at the beginning of May it was very hard, but also only found in the night (23 - 02 o clock).
In late summer it was more easy, Just follow the tracks in very early morning (before the wind blows them away) or, also during night. They are much more active in the summer month, in autumn it will be more difficult again, when night temperatures are dropping to much.
