Does someone know if there is a good book which shows every or much species of the herpetofauna of marocco. Best in german or in english. Best regards Niklas
the only one is: Bons, J. & P. Geniez (1996): Amphibiens et Reptiles du Maroc. ISBN 84-921999-0-3
out of print, but sometimes on EBAY. It is in French, Spanish and English, although the letter size of the english part is less than half size of the French/Spanish one.
But there are some papers on Morocain herpetofauna in the database!
Yes Bons & Geniez is a good chocie....but it is more an Atlas than a Field Guide, and it lacks of good descriptions, taxon keys, etc...has good maps and photos.... in my opinion is better Amphibians and Reptiles of North Africa: Biology, Systematics, Field Guide Schleich et al. 1996
it is hard to get one but not impossible...probably easier than find a living Varanus griseus in Morocco
If you can´t get Bons & Geniez (1996) or Schleich et al., (1996), I also recommend Geniez et al., (2004). Although the book is about Western Sahara you can see also the species and distribution or herps of the Bass Draa (Guelmim-Assa-Tantan...) and it´s more actualizated than 1996 books
