Provence 2013

Postby Stéphane Aubry » Sat Jul 27, 2013 12:00 pm

Already a week spent in the warm Provence, not a weather to look for reptiles, only good for farniente !

But yesterday at the apero time, some shots of the local Tarentola mauretanica and a pair of Hyla meridionalis in the swimming pool of our neighbors...

Now, I'm waiting for a rainy/stormy evening... for a "fieldvipering" morning...

Even a rainy cloudy day didn't helped me to find snake there. So hope you have more luck than I had!

I have a nice contact in Provence (Jessy Guerrini in Lançon-Provence) who can show you Hemidactylus and some snakes (Malpolon / Rhinechis). Do you want it?

Thanks Alexandre, I know Jessy but I'm in family holidays and my main purpose is to be with my children and my wife...
If I have a good opportunity I will go in search of vipers ;-) for the other stuff I can wait...
One of my children would like to see vultures... Tomorrow we are going to try to watch vultures !
It's like that ;-)

An orni told me that best time for vultures pics is about 11 am or later they need the warm air to fly easier. And at 6 pm they are easy to watch sitting on high stones or the top of the canyons where they live. ;)

Thanks Niklas !
Yes, it's the timing I thought, even a bit earlier, but I think I'm not going at your spot, it's too far for me...

That´s cool Stéphane! Nice vipers. Have you photos of the habitat where you find them?

Nice in situ portraits, Stéphane, very nice! ;) What kind of other snakes have you already observed in the direct surroundings?
