Trip to the south of France

Postby Dominik Hauser » Wed Apr 30, 2014 7:43 pm

Last month I took a short trip to the south of France in the surrounding of Avignon, in order to find some amphibians and the french Vipera ursinii.
The trip was quite succesful, so I´d like to show some pictures to you.

First stop was in the Jura mountains for two hours. Found a small aspis and a lot of Podarcis muralis.

After this break, the Mistral blew my VW Bus down to southern france (120km/h is quite good for the smallest T4 engine) ;) . The following three days were full of hiking and search for amphibians in the late evening.

Cloudy day, 15°C on the mountains so I decided to drive up, to search for my first Ursinii, after about 2 hours I found this nice little beaty.

Really happy I drove down the mountains and back to Germany.
All in all one of my best short trips, even the "Mistral" couldn´t spoil my good mood :D

Dominik,

The ursinii is wonderful, I can imagine how happy you were after this finding. While you were visiting this nice region close to Avignon, I was investigating your domain (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1861), maybe you can even recognize some animals ;)

A successful short trip indeed! Pelobates cultripes I would also love to see, and the habitat of the Alytes obstetricans et al. looks so beautiful! The picture of Tarentola mauritanica on the wooden door is also a special and very nice one!
Regards,
Laura

Thanks! :) Sadly through the picture shrinking they all became a little bit grainy.
