Finally, after 3 years of planning, I managed a trip to the southern end of the country to see the remaining native reptile and amphibian fauna of the UK, with a few introduced species for good measure.

Robert, if you look at my lengthy fire salamander post, you'll see I'm all for dedicating time and effort to a single species (as well as going nuts during species-rich trips, of course...), so no worries. There's always new angles to the same critters.

I've tried to dedicate myself to my local park's Natrix population but they have proven themselves unpredictable. I'm now moving on to smooth newts and rediscovering my city's slow worm.
