Hi folks, during the last week of April this year I visited the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France.
It wasn’t really a herping trip, but well....you know how it goes.... ;)
Most of the days were sunny and pretty hot considering the time of year.
Here are some pics I made during this trip (herps and non herps).

Catalonian wall lizard (Podarcis liolepis)

Image

Common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis)

Image

Montpellier snake (Malpolon monspessulanus), d.o.r.

Image

Image

Juvenile ladder snake (Rhinechis scalaris), located while flipping rocks.

Image

Grass snake (Natrix natrix astreptophora)

Image

Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus)

Image

Short-toed snake eagle (Circaetus gallicus)

Image

European manthis (Mantis religiosa), ootheca + nimph

Image

Common Yellow Scorpion (Buthus occitanus)

Image

Scarce Swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius)

Thanks for watching,

Jelmer

Nice stuff! I feel sad for the beautiful Malpolon...
The juvenile ladder snake is stunning!

A beautiful Rhinechis! Interesting also to see the Malpolon's rear fang, thanks for sharing.
