Melanistic (?) Natterjack toad

Good morning everybody,

Last night I was on one of the sites I'm working on looking at amphibians (especially) and I found this little guy:

I'm really sorry for handling picture as I didn't take my camera with me so I had troubles taking pictures of it with my phone. The eye was really awesome.

That's cool! I would have thought it's a bufo.

That eye reminds me of a green toad I've seen on Sicily.

Aren't the tiny juveniles of Bufo bufo just as "melanistic" as that? See e. g. this one (from the island of Krk - and I have
Mario Schweiger as my eyewitness):

Actually, THOUSANDS of them were migrating at the moment, and most of them were pretty dark.
