nice, I usually am on my own while herping, so not so eager flipping. I need to hook up with an experienced Snake guy or girl, for future trips. I also found a Boiga drapiezii walking/stalking along a countryside road in Sabah once. I also know from people joining a big Herpetological expedition in Kalimantan, that most snakes where found along logging roads during night time, on the other hand frog diversity dropped by 90% as soon as the researchers went outside the primary forest. What are you flipping in palmoil plantations? leafstems from palms or?
My experience is that rain is highly overrated - I have been to Borneo around 20times (12-21days duration), never had more than 2days with rain. The heaviest rain I have had was a 3days non stop rain in North Sumatra, not so funny staying in a hut with zinkroofing. In Kalimantan I had 36hours more or less constant rain, staying under a tarp shelter during the most heavy showers, when only drizzling I went hunting 18frogs species in one night, best night ever.
