I spent a week snorkeling in the Red Sea. No fish pics, although the colours of the coral reefs and its in habitants are FANTASTIC! Just like in any documentary. Even got to get cozy with Nemo . This was a week to celibrate my mother's 60th birthday, which made it impossible to escape most of the time. I went out with a driver for 1 day in the desert, but unfortunately no nocturnalism .
This part of Egypt has no amphibians and only 20-30 reptile species. Apart from what's in the pictures, I missed %$µ£ing Eretmochelys imbricata by a hair twice. My evil family did not want to do the silly 1,5h drive to go snorkeling with Chelonia mydas (resident population of 20-30 animals feeding on sea grass beds), and I (like for the first time ever!) saved it myself for another day to avoid the nagging and complaining of my mother... Only saw a (nice) track of Cerastes cerastes and skin of some kingsize colubrid. The only snake observation I made was a speedy Psammophis aegyptius (I think) in the resort's garden.
Here are a few pictures, a few more incl. names (please correct me!) at ...
