Why?

Whether we like it or not, the types are already "laying on the shelves" in the museum or university. I am sorry, but it is not to much important if the viper is valid or not..., the types were designated...

!? As a general remark, what's the point of describing something if it's not meant to be valid? Feed an inflation of names?

I would certainly like to see the papers and read it with a critical eye before accepting the conclusions.

As Jeroen said, naming something is a different issue from showing convincingly that something really is a different species. A good paper will of course do both, but in herpetology in particular, there is a flood of papers doing only the former....

I only thought, that from the moment, when the articles with new descriptions (Pelias, Azemiops,...) were published, we have new "species"(as act of nomenclature). I didn´t say, that they are perfectly valid, valid or not valit or if the works are perfectly written or it is only fast naming of the species or something else...

I thought, that whether we like it or not, the types of new species were designated and will be exist forever, whether the taxa will be valid or not.

In terms of nomenclature you are entirely right, the names and types are "in the system" and exist.

Whether we should get excited about new species having been discovered (as opposed to named), add them to checklists, to our lifelists, or change enclosure labels, that is a different matter, and, for me at least, would depend on the evidence for the species being real biological entities.
