Last year i got my first berus find on March 17. Doubt It will be earlier this year since we´ve hade coldest winter for 15 yrs or so, but how early have you seen your first Viperea berus?

Well, this winter we might break the record for the lowest average temps, the fewest hours of sunshine or highest depth of snow - but not for the first berus :-D

Attached my results for the last years - not only berus ;-)

Daniel,

did you search on the first days when, in your opinion, activity could be possible (conc. weather conditions)? And were agilis juveniles or adult specimen?

Thx,
G.

Unfortunately I have listed more information only for the adders (gender, age, etc.). But I looked throug my pics:
28.3, 11.3, 9.3, 17.3 all adults - don´t know if male or female but I could send you the pics.
20.10, 9.10 juveniles

Vivipara and Agilis are very common in this area, Natrix is very rare. Fragilis "hard" to find. Therefore please look at the data (esepcially for Natrix and Fragilis) with caution!
Since I am a student I was at the beginning and the end almost every day outside - where activity was possible.

Thanks, I was interested in the age because the last active agilis I remember were always juveniles, but for spring I don't have any memories or records if there were juvenile or adult specimen active first.

You lucky guy!

I have been yesterday afternoon at "my" peat bog - but nothing: still about 50% coverage of snow!
