Hello from Pyrenees

Postby Javier Abalos » Fri Feb 12, 2016 11:51 am

My name is Javier Abalos Alvarez, I am a PhD candidate at University of Valencia (Spain) even though I am originally from Madrid. From 2014 I am involved with the Ethology lab in the University of Valencia (http://paucarazo.com/) and the Applied Phylogenetics group of the CIBIO research centre in Portugal (http://aphylogenetics.wix.com/phylogene ... roup/c1t44).

Our research focuses on the evolution and function of colour signals in lizards, which we mainly conduct with the european wall lizard in Pyrenees. I am particularly interested in the evolutionary mechanisms underlying ventral colour polymorphism in this species.

But above all, I enjoy field work and wildlife photography, so I think I will feel at home here!

Welcome and feel at home here!
BTW, your introduction deserves some special commendation: short, informative, and to the point.
I like it very much. Wish any new member would follow this example.

Welcome Javier, nice to see other Spanish guy here. And if you work with CIBIO, your work will be interesting for sure! A pity that you preferred Pyrinees lizards than Atlantolacerta and other Moroccan lizards such as many students in CIBIO ;)

Well, YES, most certainly. Spain is actually quite a huge country (in European standards), so why so few
Spaniards around here? (No, no and no, it's NOT a PROVOCATION, I'm just asking a reasonable question...
and strongly hope it will be recognized as such, nothing else...)
