Herpingmoon Part I - UAE

Postby Laura Bok » Sun Sep 04, 2016 6:49 pm

My husband - you might know him, his name is Bobby Bok ;) - and I just came back from our honeymoon, which brought us to the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula and the tropical islands of the Seychelles.
The photos and report from the first week in the United Arab Emirates are online and can be found on Bobby´s website:

As well as on my flickr-account:

It was roasty toasty but we still managed to find some cool herps ;) Here my personal two favourite animals from the trip.

d45_2.jpg
Desert Monitor (Varanus griseus) which we discovered by its tracks.

d28_2.jpg
Egyptian Spiny-tailed Lizard (Uromastyx aegyptia leptieni) which was not shy at all! In the background you see a Mountain Gazelle.

Fantastic photos. Desert monitors are amazing indeed. It´s crazy the swimming pool so close to the sand. Absolutely great although I can´t imagine how much time will expend the pakistan workers to mantain it so clean

Great findings - despite of the heat. Strange that the Uromastyx wasn't shy...
Thanks for posting!
