Taiwan in October

For your reports/images, made outside Europe and the "Mediterranean" countries. Not to be too narrow minded and limited to our European/Mediterranean herps.

Taiwan in October

Postby Peter Engelen » Tue Oct 18, 2016 9:53 am

When you only like green pitvipers you have to visit Taiwan in October. On 5 days/night we found 34 alive and 2 DOR. It took almost 2 weeks to find 1 green one in Malaysia a few years ago.

Peter,

Lovely pictures of a stunning species, one of my favourite trims..
stejnegeri I presume..

Anyone that doesn't like a green viper is highly suspicious in my book.. although I do love a cryptic viper.. puniceus.. yum!

Great to see a report from a location less visited by forum members.. too much sand of late for my liking :D

Cheers Paul

Other snake species? Big colubrids?

How were the weather conditions? Rainy and cool?

And, last but not least, have you habitat pictures? 8-)

In South is it very hot, ery windy with some rain. The problem are the Typhoons from last month. A lot of mountain area's and 'good' roads are closed because of landslides.

We found 1 very big Ptyas mucosa.

Some of the other snakes. We found 51 alive in total, which were 35 pitvipers.
