So after some research i decided to visit Slovenia and Croatia last summer in hope for some herps. I actually ended up going there twice but i actually never found too many herps. Nevertheless the trips were amazing and at least there were a few herps.
Heres the pictures (along with some landscapes), enjoy :
1st stop: Triglav National Park in Slovenia:
The first herp: Bufo bufo, not too exciting, but still beautiful
The first snake: Natrix natrix (in shed)
After asking around a bit, locals told us to visit a small mountains near Solcan for vipers. I couldnt find a single snake:D but at least we found a few lizards:
Algyroides nigropunctatus
Lacerta sp. :
Next up was Krk
Again we couldnt find a single snake, but at least we found the infamous hemidactylus turcicus in Omisalj, lots of Podarcis sicula and Euscorpius :
Next stop: Velebit
I guess we were a bit too late in Velebit, as we had no luck at all with reptiles, a bat and Mantis religiosa were the highlights there.
After a few days we decided to go to warmer areas, so we left for Pasman and Uglijan. We found a few more herps there, but again not that many.
Hierophis gemonensis:
Testudo hermanni:
Mantis religiosa:
Podarcis melisellensis? :
Habitat:
In the end i have to say, the trip was amazing, but i hoped for a few more herps, but you never know, how next year will turn out
