Well if you start with this topic I think that 2 out of 3 illustrations used in general media when reporting about a particular species depict the wrong snakes... I guess they just pick up randomly pictures in free-access databases. Of course it´s more embarassing when the author is supposed to be a naturalist... :roll:

Actually an austriaca.
As I can see, the trap austriaca vs girondica makes always victims. But, honestly, they are very different snakes, both as regards markings and as regards body shape... I wonder if and when some researchers will separate them into two different genus: austriaca gives living babies, while girondica lays eggs... :?
